MANVILLE: Police blotter, week of Nov. 15-21

   • A Boesel Avenue man reported a safe was missing at 9:31 a.m. Nov. 12. Patrols responded and reported the safe was found in the house.
   • Rocky Chevere, 25, of Manville was charged with shoplifting $9.63 worth of items from Walmart on North Main Street at 7:21 p.m. Nov. 12. He was released after booking.
   • In one hour in the morning of Nov. 13, an Adesa Auto Auction employee filed three reports. At 10:48 a.m. she said a reported stolen car was on the North Main Street property. Police found a 2012 Toyota Camry was repossessed by the lender and notified Bridgeton, Conn., police. At 11:36 she reported a stolen 2011 Toyota Camry; Elizabeth police were informed. At 11:50 she said a reported stolen 2010 gray Toyota Corolla was on the property with no plates. Dunellen police were notified.
   • A Marion Place man came to headquarters at 8:41 a.m. Nov. 15 and said he received a suspicious letter from the Matheson Research Group saying he was accepted as a “secret shopper,” along with a check to him for $1,938. He didn’t cash the check or give personal information. The incident was put on the record.
   • A South 9th Avenue couple reported at 9 a.m. Nov. 15 that both of their vehicles (a 2008 Hyundai and a 2010 Nissan) were scratched with a key between 10 a.m. Nov. 13 and 4 p.m. Nov. 14. Estimated damage was $200 per car. The incident was put on the record.
   • A man called at 12:45 p.m. Nov. 15 to say that, while his South 21st Avenue house is in foreclosure, a company was supposed to secure the house. After the company left, he noticed a generator, laptop computer, TV and Weed Whacker were missing, with an undetermined total value.
   • A Harrison Avenue woman reported her snakeskin wallet, valued at $200, was taken from her vehicle. In the wallet were a driver’s license and $500 cash, she said.
   • At 2:34 p.m. Nov. 16 an officer was requested at a South Main Street dry cleaner, where a North 4th Avenue man was dissatisfied with the work on his jacket for $17.25. Sgt. Jeffery Petrone advised the man and store owner of their rights.
• At noon on Saturday, Michael Johnson of Bridgewater was charged with theft in reference to a Nov. 7 report of a battery taken from a South 3rd Avenue porch. He was taken to Somerset County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
   • At 9:36 p.m. Saturday, a man reported finding a bank debit card in a bank parking lot in Somerville. Police there notified the woman owner, who said she would pick up the card on Nov. 25.
   • Firefighters responded at 10:58 a.m. Sunday to a Pope Street house where gas had been spilled in the basement. They applied an absorbent.
   • A South Main Street woman reported damage to the driver’s side window of her vehicle at 6:32 a.m. Monday.
