Michael A. Schutzer, president and CEO of Harmony Bank, Jackson, has reported higher third quarter earnings.

For the quarter, which ended Sept. 30, the bank reported a net income of $240,268 or 16 cents per share, compared to $117,159 or 8 cents per share for the same period in 2011, an increase of $123,109 or 105 percent.

For the nine months, which ended Sept. 30, the bank reported net income of $541,061 or 36 cents per share, an increase of $402,931 or 291 percent over the $138,130 or 9 cents per share reported for the same period in 2011.

On Aug. 29, Harmony Bank paid a 5 percent common stock dividend to shareholders of record as of Aug. 15, 2012. In addition, Harmony Bank will continue to expand its branch network with the planned opening of a third office, 104 Route 37 east, Toms River, in early 2013. As of Sept. 30, the total assets of Harmony Bank were $143.1 million.

Harmony Bank is a state chartered FDIC insured commercial bank that opened for business in September 2008. Its headquarters are in Jackson, with one branch office in Lakewood.

Provident Bank is offering New Jersey residents a chance to win money while supporting their favorite charities.

The bank is hosting a “Committed to Share” sweepstakes through Nov.28 to give a financial boost to consumers and charities. Participants can enter for a chance to win one of three top cash prizes with a matching donation to a charity.

In addition, one winner is selected each day at random to receive a $100 Provident Visa gift card for themselves and a $100 donation to a charity of their choice.

Three top prizes will be awarded on Dec. 15, including a grand prize of $5,000 cash and a $5,000 donation to a charity; a first place prize of $2,500 cash and a $2,500 donation to a charity; and a second place prize of $1,250 cash and a $1,250 donation to a charity. Overall, Provident will award more than $28,000 in prizes to winners and their charities.

OceanFirst Foundation has established a $500,000 relief and recovery grant program to assist the efforts of nonprofit organizations in the New Jersey shore market area that are helping local families impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

The foundation also announced the first three grant recipients that will each be awarded $50,000 to help meet the emergency basic needs of local families: The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Neptune; St. Francis Center, Brant Beach; and Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton (Emergency Services).

Nonprofit organizations that are assisting individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Sandy in the OceanFirst Bank market are invited to apply for grants of up to $25,000 from the OceanFirst Foundation Relief and Recovery Program and should contact 732-341-4676 for details.
