And what else can one say of Stix Bones? He is not only a great musician/composer, but a consummate showman and entertainer as well. Hailing from Brooklyn, he received his BA degree in Jazz Performance from Purchase College, State University of New York. It was there that Stix was given the name BONE by his fellow musicians, an acronym for “Brother of Noble Excellence,” because of the mutual respect they shared. Stix released his highly successful first full-length Smooth Jazz album entitled Groove Like This in 2007 and is currently working on his follow-up release. Groove Like This has graced the airwaves of more than forty jazz radio stations in the U.S., Jazz internet and satellite stations across the globe, and has charted in the top 10 on the digital Jazz charts while reaching the top 20 Jazz charts in France.
“Stix Bones is an artist/composer that you definitely should keep your eye on. The music on his Groove Like This CD captivates from start to finish. Very impressive!”J. Anderson, 90.5 WJAB, Huntsville, AL

Ashong, who fuses a unique blend of Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk and West African Highlife, and Stix appears on their latest critically acclaimed hit CD release, AFropolitan.  Stix‘s musical influences are a mix of Hip Hop and Jazz and he has built a respectable name amongst Jazz & Hip Hop artists while being credited as truly a ‘Brother of Noble Excellence.’
