On Nov. 19 at 10:19 a.m. a Walmart customer was involved in a hit and run. Police responded.
On Nov. 19 at 11:19 a.m. a caller reported that her husband and brother were in a verbal argument at 921 Kennedy Boulevard. Both parties had left the scene. Patrol responded, confirmed the report and documented it as a matter of record.
On Nov. 19 at 1:29 p.m. a person arrived at headquarters to report she had received a suspicious phone call, possibly a scam, informing her she was a contest winner and to forward $500 to the West Indies. The person was advised it was a scam.
On Nov. 19 at 6:33 p.m. a person arrived at headquarters to report that approximately $1,400 in savings bonds were fraudulently cashed in March 2003. The investigation is continuing.
On Nov. 19 at 6:36 p.m. the county reported an argument between a father and step-son. Police responded and spoke to both parties.
On Nov. 19 at 9:19 p.m. county communications dispatched the fire department and rescue squad to 603 Lincoln Ave. for an activated carbon dioxide alarm. No illness was reported. Police responded and reported the scene to the fire department, which stood by for PSE&G to arrive.
On Nov. 20 at 12:29 p.m. a person arrived a headquarters to report she received two checks in the mail, made out to her, from two companies. Police advised it was a scam and told her not to release any personal information.
On Nov. 20 at 2:26 p.m. a person arrived at headquarters to report a cellar door padlock on her vacant home, at 68 Huf f Ave., was broken on Nov. 13. Police responded and reported $240 worth of copper piping was taken. The investigation is continuing.
On Nov. 20 at 4:05 p.m. a caller reported there was an intoxicated man on a bicycle in the area of Beekman Street and South Main Street. Police responded and took him, voluntarily, to Somerset Medical Center.
On Nov. 20 at 10:13 p.m. a voice recording reported pumps one and two had failed at the South Arlington Street pump house. John Bonczak was notified. He responded and fixed the problems.
On Nov. 20 at 10:49 p.m. a caller reported hearing strange noises in her basement. Police responded and found an open cellar door but nothing was displaced. The outside door was resecured.
On Nov. 20 at 11:49 p.m. a caller reported loud noise from apartment 16 at 120 North 4th Ave. Police responded and all was quiet. Patrols were unsuccessful in attempts to contact the apartment’s resident.
On Nov. 21 at 7:57 a.m. county communications reported a two-vehicle crash with no injuries in front of 1004 Huff Ave. Police responded and reported a two-car reportable accident.
On Nov. 21 at 5:35 p.m. Patrolman William Samson stopped a vehicle driven by Edison G. Jimenez, 22, of 417 Raritan Avenue, for driving while suspended.
On Nov. 21 at 11:31 p.m. Stefan Apostolos, 22, of Mahwah, was arrested in the Rythms lot and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, possession of suboxone third degree and possession of clonazepam third degree. The rescue squad responded and took him to Somerset Medical Center as a “highly intoxicated male.”
On Nov. 22 at 1:50 a.m. Elizabeth Vanesio of Rythms management reported approximately 200 patrons in the parking lot who failed to leave the area. Police responded, requesting mutual aid from the Hillsborough and Bridgewater police departments. All patrons were dispatched without incident.
On Nov. 22 at 4:39 a.m. police stopped Francisco A. Altamirano, 33, of Philadelphia. He was processed at the scene for being an unlicensed driver.
On Nov. 22 at 5:52 p.m. county communications reported a rescue squad call to Reading Cinema for a man who had an allergic reaction. Police responded. He was taken to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
On Nov. 22 at 6:06 p.m. Hayley Zelasko, 23, of Somerset, came to headquarters to report as a matter of record that her Burberry wristlet was taken while she was at Rythms on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Inside were her New Jersey driver’s license, a set of car keys and an iPhone. The items taken were valued at $1,255.
On Nov. 23 at 4:22 p.m. a caller reported a theft in progress at Rue Industries. Patrol responded and arrested Michael O’Leary, 31, of Somerset, and Derek Shannon, 27, of Hillsborough, and charged with theft of moveable property (steel plate). The estimated value is $100. Both men were released on summonses.
On Nov. 24 at 4:25 p.m. a caller reported criminal mischief to her vehicle. Police responded and reported four circular dents to the driver’s side of her car, a 2007 GMC Yukon. The cost to repair is unknown.
