Blood pressure screening is held before the beginning of each meeting for members.
Leaf season is upon us and there will be a once -a-week pickup until mid-December so have your leaves in the gutter, not in plastic bags. Remember to keep the storm drains clear.
Lisa Carra from the Manville Nutrition Center reminded us about the lunches served daily at Firehouse No. 1 and also the exercise programs light weights and walk chair sponsored by the Recreation Department.
One of our members talked about how she was scammed. She received a phone call supposedly from Medicare telling her she would receive a new Medicare card in the mail in three to five days but information was needed to verify her identity. She was asked her name, address, Medicare number and bank account number. When she called Medicare to check this out she was informed this was a scam and to close out her bank account which she did. This is a lesson to give no information over the phone unless you instituted the call and know who you are speaking with.
