CHRISTMASTIDE: Choral Gems through the Centuries

VOICES Chorale
Accompanied by strings, percussion, and organ, VOICES Chorale is excited to bring Christmas choral music, ancient and modern, to life. Families will enjoy the variety and can join in singing a few carols. The 70-minute concert will take place Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 33 Mercer Street, Princeton, NJ 08540  and  Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at 7:30 pm at the Anchor Presbyterian Church, 980 Durham Rd (Rte 413), Wrightstown, PA 18940. Each piece was chosen for the intimate accoustics of Trinity Church, Princeton. 
The program includes chants from the 8th centyry, a Palestrina "Hodie" from the Renaissance, and favorites by Monterverdi and Handel from the Baroque. Other gems include Mendelssohn’s There Shall a St ar from Jacob Come Forth, Tchaikovsky’s The Crown of Roses, and the exciting up-tempo Hodie (2000) by Britisher James Whitbourn.
