EAST WINDSOR: Annual ‘Communities of Light’ ceremony against domestic violence nears

EAST WINDSOR — The township will participate in the Womanspace Communities of Light, geared to raise funds and awareness of domestic violence and services available to victims.
Mayor Janice Mironov said East Windsor would be gathering to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building at 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10.
She called on residents to participate in purchasing candles and joining together at the Municipal Building on Dec. 10.
Luminary kits, containing six candles, can be purchased for $10 at Gold’s Gym in the Windsor Crossing Shopping Center off Route 130 North or Fulton Bank at the intersection of Princeton-Hightstown Road and Old Trenton Road, according to an event release.
”We hope that our participation will help focus public attention on the subject of domestic violence and encourage residents to become more aware of support efforts available to victims and families,” the mayor said.
Communities of Light, benefiting victims of domestic violence, is sponsored by Womanspace, the lead nonprofit organization in Mercer County that provides crisis intervention and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The mission of Womanspace is to provide a comprehensive array of services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life to women and their families, the release said.
