Programs are beginning to take on a holiday bent at the Hillsborough Public Library, 379 South Branch Road.
The library’s West Wing comes alive with music as the group Seasons creates a fusion of Celtic, folk, original and holiday music, resulting in a sound that is truly unique, on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served. This program is sponsored by the Hillsborough Library Advisory Board.
Teens in grades 6-12 who want to learn how to gift wrap will make one-of-a-kind wrappings. Library staffers will assist and provide supplies on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your gifts! Kids will also vote on a holiday movie to watch.
Note: The Hillsborough Public Library will open at noon on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Adult programs (registration required):
• Monday Morning Moms (for parents/caregivers) — Different topics of discussion along with recommended resources. Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
• A mixed-gender ESL conversation group, sponsored by Somerset County Literacy Volunteers, meets Mondays through Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. You must know basic English.
• Book discussion — Read “The Weird Sisters” by Eleanor Brown and join the Friends of the Library to talk about it. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
• Afternoon movie —”The Bourne Legacy,” rated PG-13 and starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton, will be shown Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 1:30 p.m.

• Art Adventures (ages 4-6) — Create texture paintings and take your own masterpiece home. Some projects may be messy, so dress in play clothes. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m.• Toddler Time for 2’s and 3’s ABCs— Stories and songs about bedtime. No registration required. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m.• Teen Advisory Board (grades 6-12) — Help plan teen programs and say what you’d like to see happen at the library — while enjoying treats. Attendance counts toward community service hours. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.• Afterschool Science — Hands-on fun with the Sound Science. Grades 3-5 on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday, Dec. 6, programs are for ages 4-6 at 10 a.m. and grades K-2 at 4 p.m.• Singing Babies (newborn to 24 months) — Ann Wild will start little ones on the road to a lifetime love of music making. Older siblings will not be allowed into this program. Friday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m.
• Story and songs (ages 2-6) — An interactive story and some musical activities. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m.
• Lego Buddies (grades 8-12) — Reliable teen volunteers are wanted to provide assistance during Lego Club programs. You must register for each session. Volunteers will earn community service hours. Limited to four volunteers. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2:45 p.m.
• Lego Club (grades 1-5) — Hang out with other Lego-maniacs and have fun building together. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m.
• Stories for 4s, 5s and 6s — Family storytime about snow on Monday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. No registration required.
• Tail Waggin’ Tutors (grades K-4 only) Each registered child will get 10 special minutes practicing reading skills while Xena, a Therapy Dog International-certified dog, listens. Online registration is not available; call or stop by the Children’s Desk. Arrive early; if you are late, you will lose your spot! Mondays, Dec. 10 and 17, from 4 to 5 p.m.
• First Look Books (grades 6-12) — Get a sneak peek at new teen titles before they hit the shelves. Tell the library what you think and take a book home. Monday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m.
• Rhyme Time (for newborns to 24 months) — Twenty minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m.
• Toddler Time for 2’s and 3’s — Introduce the pleasure of books to your child with stories, songs. No registration required. The topic for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, is forest animals.
• Learning Adventures (ages K-2) — Hear about winter weather Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m.
• Movin’ Munchkins (ages 2-6) — A creative movement program for the child and parent/caregiver. A library release/waiver must be signed by a parent or the child cannot participate. Forms are available at the Children’s Desk. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m.
• Story & craft (ages 2-6) — Listen to a story and create a winter craft to take home. Friday, Dec. 14, at 10 or 11 a.m., or Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m.
