HILLSBOROUGH: Senior Corner column, week of Dec. 6

CHAPTER A
Several members of Chapter A attended the bingo graciously hosted by Chapter B. In addition to the regular prizes, there were lovely poinsettia door prizes.
Chapter A meetings start at 12:30 with doors open at 11:30, allowing time to review upcoming events. Refreshments are served after the meeting. Members may at any time contribute kitchen supplies—coffee, decaf, napkins, plastic sandwich bags, etc. All Hillsborough seniors are invited and may join our club at any meeting. Dues are $5 a year.
”The Riverside Quartet,” with our own Dave Fergesen, will entertain at today’s (Dec. 6) meeting.

CHAPTER B
Our year is coming to a close. It has been a busy and an exciting one. I hope each of you enjoyed it as much as I did.
We now come to our final month of the year. We start off with our holiday party, which takes place on Dec. 13 at Soriano’s on Old York Road. This event takes the place of a meeting.
We ask that you do not arrive early for this event or any of our off-site parties. You will not be allowed in because there will not be room to accommodate you. The management needs time to set up.
At our November meeting we elected our new slate of officers and trustees for the next two years. Ed and Nancy Bertin were re-elected for another term as co-presidents. Other officers are: vice president Tony Fusco; treasurer Joan Eckerstrom; recording secretary Jennie Kowalcryk; corresponding secretary Terry Procida; financial secretary Claire Fortmiller; and trustees Maureen Grabowski, Charlotte Politi, Sue Novi and Bob and Sandy Kwietniak. Installation will take place in January. We wish them the very best.
Nancy Bertin thanked the outgoing officers and trustees for all their time and efforts on our behalf.
Our last event for the year is our Dec. 31 “New Year’s Eve at noon,” which will be held at the Brownstone in northern New Jersey. It will feature a band, dancing and comedian; two free drinks and a complete lunch (soup, salad, roast beef, roast turkey, stuffing, rolls and a special dessert). Soda and beer will be available at each table — all this for the cost of $67. You will be home in plenty of time to welcome in the New Year with your family.
A deposit of one-half of the cost for our April trip to Washington, D.C., was collected at our November meeting. The balance for the trip will be collected at our January meeting. It is not too late to sign up for this wonderful trip; it can be done at our January meeting. Washington was the most requested for a trip by our membership.
We remind everyone: If you have not paid your dues, this must also be done at our January meeting.
Chickie Haines will be taking over this column as of the first of the year.
