MANVILLE: Police blotter, Nov. 26-Dec. 2

   A Roosevelt Avenue man came to headquarters at 4:33 p.m. Nov. 26 to report a civil dispute over a 1997 black Jeep offered as partial payment in a home sale. The sale was conducted and he had the title, but the man hadn’t received the Jeep. He was worried he would be liable for motor vehicle violations. The seller and buyer were living in the same house, he said.
   • Andrew Mason, 22, of Flemington was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance by Patrolman William Sampson after a traffic stop on South Main Street at 11:12 p.m. Nov. 26.
   • A Green Street man called at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 to say he believed his neighbor was burning plastic. Responding with patrols, Fire Chief Marc Pruiksma told the neighbor to remove all items from the stove and the fire inspector would follow up in the morning.
   • A caller at 8:27 a.m. Nov. 28 reported the theft of a gold chain from a Bound Brook Avenue residence 10 days previous. The woman said an insurance adjuster who was in the home took a necklace that she bought 12 years ago for $1,300. An investigation was begun.
   • A woman said at headquarters at 2:47 p.m. Nov. 28 that she had lost her brown purse — with driver’s license, debit card and $5 cash in it — in an office building in Somerville in the previous week. She was advised to cancel all cards.
   • A woman said at headquarters at 4:28 p.m. Nov. 28 that someone took her Georgia identification card, Bank of Nova Scotia card from Jamaica and Social Security card out of her purse while she was in the Manville post office between 3 and 3:15 p.m. An investigation was begun.
   • Joseph Benson 3rd, 31, with a last known address of Scranton, Pa., was charged with shoplifting $49 worth of items from Walmart at 6:39 p.m. Nov. 28. He was taken to Somerset County Jail in default of $100 cash bail.
   • Detective Craig Jeremiah reported finding a wallet and turning it in as recovered property at 8:40 a.m. Nov. 29.
   • A witness reported seeing a man trying to enter a maroon vehicle with a wooden stick on South Main Street near Manville Pizza at 10 a.m. Nov. 29. Patrols responded and said it was the restaurant owner with a cane getting into the car.
   • The rescue squad was called to respond to a 62-year-old man with a leg injury after being hit with a vehicle at Adesa Auto Auction on North Main Street at 10:37 a.m. Nov. 29. He initially refused medical attention, but later was taken to Somerset Medical Center by the rescue squad.
   • A caller said $18,000 in cash was taken from the glove box of his 2003 Toyota Camry parked in the Reading Cinema lot on North Main Street at 1:14 p.m. Nov. 29. The caller said he was at Adesa Auto Auction next door and returned to find the passenger door forced open. A detective responded.
   • At 6:41 p.m. Nov. 29 a Bridgewater man reported losing his black iPhone 4 cell phone with a clear case while at Walmart on North Main Street.
   • A South 9th Avenue man reported damage to four tires on his vehicle, as well as two trailer tires — a total damage of $1,400 — at 10:39 a.m. Nov. 30. Patrolman David Sheffrin was to investigate.
   • South Bound Brook police reported having in custody Raymond Fritz III, 27, of Manville on a $2,500 warrant at 5:34 p.m. Dec. 1. Police said Mr. Fritz faced a Manville warrant for a domestic violence incident and a county warrant for weapons offenses in Manville earlier this year. Patrols took Mr. Fritz to Somerset County Jail in default.
   • A Dayton, N.J., woman said she had lost her 14-karat white gold diamond tennis bracelet at the Manville VFW between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Dec. 1. It was put on the record.
   • A man reported at 11:40 p.m. Dec. 1 he was assaulted by several individuals in a dark-colored SUV with a pink deer head decal in the rear windshield. He didn’t ask for medical attention. Later he called and gave names of the accused, who also broke his vehicle’s door handles, causing an estimated $500 damage.
   • A man came to headquarters at 11:41 a.m. Dec. 2 with a suspicious substance he said he found near his South 14th Avenue residence. Patrols said field tests said the substance was hashish. It was turned over for destruction.
