Over 250 people, representing book clubs around the tri-state area and beyond, enjoyed an afternoon with “Rules of Civility” author, Amor Towles, at Greenacres Country Club.
He delighted the room with a multi-media presentation highlighting his influences and inspirations for his bestseller.
”It was a thought provoking and intelligent conversation ending with inspired questions and comments from the erudite audience,” said a spokeswoman.
The event, held Nov. 18, was the seventh annual Book Lovers’ Luncheon, a fundraising event for the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation (hvef.org).
Mr. Towles joins a select group of authors invited to keynote this event.
All proceeds are dedicated to enhancing and enriching the language arts curriculum in the Hopewell Valley School District by funding author-in-residence programs.
Along with lunch, the guests had opportunities to support the foundation by purchasing mystery bags, silent auction items, and the locally famous pre-owned book sale.
Mr. Towles’ book also was available for purchase and he offered to sign and personalize them after his presentation.
The afternoon was a success, thanks to the tireless efforts of the committee: Carol Jackson (chairwoman), Jessica Clingman, Isobel DeRusha, Donna Doran, Terri Genova, Kathy Mikalsen, Meridith Van Pelt and Randee Tengi.
The next Book Lovers’ Luncheon (author to be unveiled soon) will be held in late fall 2013. Contact Ms. Jackson at [email protected] to have your name added to the contact list.
