WEST AMWELL — The firm of United Federal City is expected to begin installing FiOS (Fiber-Optic) lines on utility poles in West Amwell Township soon.
The Township Committee approved the project at its Nov. 28 meeting, Clerk Lora Olsen said.
Other business at that session included:
— An ordinance that amends the chapter of the township building code that pertains to engineering inspection fees was adopted at the Nov. 28 meeting, Ms. Olsen said.
— Also adopted was an ordinance that amends the portion of the township building code that covers a checklist for land development applications.
Checklists are made up of aspects of development proposals that must be dealt with to the satisfaction of municipal construction officials.
— A third ordinance adopted at the Nov. 28 meeting covers other fees the municipality charges under its building code.
Ms. Olsen said the committee is planning to remove a large tree that is leaning onto another tree on municipally owned property off Route 179.
— Also under way, she said, is an effort to obtain generators for use at the municipal and public works buildings. The generators would provide electric power during outages, such as those caused by Hurricanes Irene and Sandy.
What size generators to obtain, and with what type of fuel they should be powered, will be determined soon.
— The committee also passed a resolution thanking the Ontario, Canada-based firm of Entegrus Powerlines for its help in bringing electric power back to the township.
Entegrus assisted JCP&L in working on power lines.
A resolution thanking Entegrus for its work restoring power to Lambertville was passed by the Lambertville City Council Nov. 19.
— The committee will meet twice in December, on the 10th and 27th.
Normally, the committee once a month. In December, however, officials usually schedule an extra meeting late in the month for the purpose of finishing business before the end of the year.
