Some gray matter that appeared to be a brain, discovered on the lawn outside the Quick Chek convenience store on the Brunswick Circle Extension last week, was determined to have belonged to an animal not a human, according to police.
A landscaper who was blowing away some leaves on the Princeton Avenue side of the property around 4 p.m. Dec. 4 discovered the small piece of gray material, police said. The material had not been there when he last worked on the property Nov. 29.
The landscaper told a Trenton police officer, who had stopped at the convenience store, about what he had found. The Lawrence Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office were notified and responded to the scene.
After an investigation, the Lawrence Township Police Department was notified Dec. 5 by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office that the brain did not belong to a human. No additional investigation is planned into the matter, police said.
