   Library opens late: The Manville Public Library will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon for staff development. The library will open at noon and close at 8 p.m.
   School concert: Manville High School band and choir concert at 7 p.m. Silent auction fundraiser in the lobby at 6:30 p.m.
Sun., Dec. 16
   Christmas carol singing: The 14th annual Community Christmas Carol Sing at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 34 South Third Ave. Sing along as a band performs traditional carols and contemporary favorites.    Cookie sale: Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church will hold its annualChristmas cookie sale at 11:30 a.m. in the lower parish hall at 605 Washington Ave.Choose your own selection of home-baked cookies from around the world. Cookies sell out quickly, so don’t be late.
Sat., Jan. 5
   Local government reorganizes: Two new Borough Councilmen will be sworn in and volunteers and paid officials appointed to posts for 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Municipal Courtroom.
Tues., Jan. 8
   Ethics training: The Manville Board of Education will meet with board attorney David Rubin in closed session at 5:30 p.m. in the Alexander Batcho Media Center.
Sat., Jan. 19
   Tricky tray rescheduled: Manville-Hillsborough BPOE 2119, 1500 Brooks Blvd. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Raffle begins at 7:30. $10 (includes one free sheet of tickets). No one under 18 admitted. Bring five non-perishable food items for the local food pantry and get a free grand prize raffle (limit of 10 items). For tickets call 908-725-1717 or 908-575-9610. Jan. 22 and 23
   Kindergarten registration: Signups for next fall will be held at the Weston School on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 22 and 23. Contact the school at 908-231-8500, ext. 8548, to receive a kindergarten packet, which will be mailed home for completion prior to registration. The packet will offer specific information concerning the kindergarten program for the 2013-14 school year. All children attending kindergarten must be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013. No exceptions will be made.

   Blood pressure checks: Second Thursday of the month, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., VFW.

   Longer hours at Borough Hall: In order to provide additional services to residents, offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. On the Fridays following these Mondays, Borough Hall will close at 2 p.m.
