On Dec. 4, the SHRHS boys and girls soccer teams celebrated the conclusion of their season with their annual banquet.
The evening started off when Interim Superintendent Joanne Calabro announced the selections for the All Conference Team.
Capt. Zach Mastrich was placed on the First Team, and captains, Andrew Nini and Jonathan Wendeborn, were placed on the Second Team.
It also was announced that the SHR girls soccer team would play at the varsity level beginning in the 2013 season.
Boys Head Coach Craig Roth revealed the winners of the following awards: Noe Caballero, Defensive MVP; Jacob von Giebel, Offensive MVP; Zach Mastrich, Golden Boot; Jonathan Wendeborn, Team MVP; and Lloyd Seiter, Most Improved.
Girls Head Coach Bay Peterson awarded Elyse Williams, Defensive MVP; Erica Waslin, Offensive MVP; Devon Nini, Golden Boot; Christine Hirt, Most Improved; and Shannon Ferry and Sarah Franzini, Coach’s Awards.
The seniors who will be moving on from the boys soccer team are: Noe Caballero, Paul Cally, Patrick Ferry, Rolando Huesca, Zach Mastrich, Andrew Nini, Liam Piscetelli, Alberto Ramirez, Lloyd Seiter, Alex Singleton, Kyle Tillet and Jonathan Wendeborn.
The seniors graduating from the girls soccer team are: Erica Waslin, Holly Kapsimalis and Roxanne Kreider.
This group represents the first group of soccer players who have played at South since the soccer program was established when they were in seventh grade.
