A 55-year-old Lawrence Township chiropractor has been charged with sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual contact for allegedly touching two patients in an improper manner, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
Dr. Peter Plumb, who lives in Yardley, Pa., and whose practice — Plumb Chiropractic Center — is located in the 1200 block of Lawrence Road, was arrested Monday morning in connection with the incidents, said police Lt. Mark Ubry.
The first incident allegedly occurred earlier this year, when a 20-year-old woman sought chiropractic treatment, Lt. Ubry said. During her treatment, Dr. Plumb allegedly put his hand down her pants and placed his hand on her pubic area in an effort to align her hips. She became uncomfortable with this and stopped going to Dr. Plumb, police said.
The most recent incidents occurred in November and December, when a 39-year-old woman sought treatment, Lt. Ubry said. During her treatments, Dr. Plumb allegedly touched her breasts through her clothing and also placed his hand down her pants to treat her groin area.
During one treatment session, Dr. Plumb informed the woman that he needed to work “from the inside outwards,” and proceeded to remove the victim’s pants, Lt. Ubry said. He then penetrated the victim with his fingers. She reported the incident to the police.
Dr. Plumb was charged after the Lawrence Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the allegations brought forth by the two patients, Lt. Ubry said.
Bail for Dr. Plumb has been set at $100,000 for the sexual assault and $25,000 for each count of criminal sexual contact, Lt. Ubry said.
Additional victims or anyone with information is asked to contact the Lawrence Township Police Department at 609-896-1111 or by email at [email protected]. The case is active and the investigation is ongoing, Lt. Ubry said.
