A Princeton University student who allegedly took X-rated photos of a fellow student will be able to avoid having a criminal record if he successfully completes six months of probation.
Richard Tuckwell, charged with third-degree invasion of privacy, was admitted to the pre-trial intervention program, said Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr.’s office on Monday. He had pleaded not guilty to the accusation in court on Thursday, Mr. Bocchini’s office said.
Mr. Tuckwell, 20, must stay away from the 19-year-old male victim and remain in school or be employed. If he successfully completes the program, he will have no criminal record, and his lawyer then will seek to have his arrest record expunged so that Mr. Tuckwell could legally say he was never arrested.
”We’re very pleased that this unfortunate matter has been resolved so that everyone will be able to get on with their lives,” said Arnold Mellk, his lawyer, in a phone interview Monday.
Mr. Tuckwell, an Australian citizen, allegedly took the photos of the other student in 1939 Hall, a campus dormitory on Sept.16. He was arrested and charged in the case on Sept.21.
