JUNIOR HERO TO ANIMALS AWARD – CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey’s (AWFNJ) JUNIOR HERO TO ANIMALS AWARD is presented to a humane-minded student in recognition of the recipient’s initiative in undertaking actions and efforts which contribute significantly to the welfare of animals in New Jersey on a local, regional or state level. Nominations for the 2013 Award are being accepted until
February 1, 2013. Presentation will be made during the AWFNJ Annual Conference
March 22-23, 2013 at The Ocean Place Resort & Spa, One Ocean Blvd. Long Branch, NJ.
2013 AWFNJ Junior Hero to Animals Award Nomination Information
Any person with first-hand knowledge of the animal welfare activities of the nominated person, with the exception of members of the board of the Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey, may submit a nomination. A nomination form is attached to this document.
ELIGIBILITY:
•Students are eligible
•Nominee must be actively engaged in a specific service for a bona fide organization or be the primary manager of an independent project or activity that enhances the welfare of animals, although adult supervision of the project/activity is expected
•Projects/activities undertaken in order to meet assignments for school/classroom requirements or in order to complete criteria for scouting, church or other organizational achievements and/or awards are not eligible for the Junior Hero to Animals Award
•The reach of the project/activity may be limited to a specific organization or local area or may be regional or statewide in scope
EXAMPLE:
Last year’s recipient of the Junior Hero to Animals award is a teenager who started up and runs an annual walk, garners sponsors for the event, and donates proceeds to the Monmouth County SPCA to be used to further public education about animal welfare issues.
Nominations should be submitted on the attached form. Nominations will be reviewed by representatives of the AWFNJ for completeness and adherence to eligibility requirements. Persons submitting nominations as well as additional references supplied will be contacted by representatives of the AWFNJ for a personal conversation and additional information, if necessary. A panel of judges from within the AWFNJ will review the nominations and contact both the nominee and the nominator prior to the 2013 AWFNJ Annual Conference. The Junior Hero to Animals Award will be presented during the conference luncheon on March 22, 2013 between 12 Noon & 2pm.
