A 15-year-old Hillsborough boy was hit while trying to cross Route 206 two-tenths of a mile south of Amwell Road at 4:43 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.
The driver, Leo Helepli, 31, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, was traveling south in stop-and-go traffic when it hit teen, who was trying to run across the highway against the traffic signal, police said. The light is an entrance to a liquor store and farmer’s market.
The Hillsborough Rescue Squad treated the teen at the scene for a head injury, and the teen was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.
In addition to police and the rescue squad, the Somerset Medical Center Mobile Intensive Care Unit responded.
