Somerset County Recycling Division reported at 2:18 Dec. 10 that its truck had taken down a wire on Duke’s Parkway. Patrols responded, found it was an old wire and put it back.
Patrols and firefighters responded to a North 7th Avenue address just before 4 p.m. Dec. 10. Smoke was found to come from burnt food in the microwave.
A North 6th Avenue man came to headquarters just before 1 p.m. Dec. 11 to report he had lost his white gold, 10-karat wedding ring with six diamonds in his home on Dec. 9. He said it was worth $700.
At 3 p.m. Dec. 11 a Newark Avenue woman said she was upset the leaves from the Weston School were blowing on her property. She was advised to contact the Board of Education.
Alexander Batcho Intermediate and Manville High schools conducted a school lockdown training drill at 1:38 p.m. Dec. 12. Patrols assisted.
William Dillard of South 3rd Avenue came to headquarters at 8:37 a.m. Dec. 13 to report the theft of his 2004 gray Acura, valued at $11,000. It was entered in NCIC. Less than four hours later, he called back to say he had the vehicle and it was not stolen.
At headquarters at 11:27 a.m. Dec. 1, a West Frech Avenue woman reported the theft of $3,000 worth of jewelry from her home between Nov. 6 and Dec. 9.
Adesa Auto Auction called at 1 p.m. Dec. 13 to report recovering a 2006 four-door Honda Accord reportedly stolen in New York City. Patrols confirmed the vehicle is a repossession, and vehicle taken off national crime list.
An East Frech Avenue caller at 1 p.m. Dec. 13 said a car was driven on the lawn on the side of her house in the overnight hours.
A woman who lives in an apartment on South Main Street came to the station and said someone took her debit card and withdrew $150 at an ATM. She gave police a name. Patrolman Ryan Steier is investigating.
Detective Craig Jeremiah found two wallets and put them in evidence custody at 8:54 a.m. Dec. 14.
Roosevelt School reported that the state Division of Youth and Family Services was notified about a child who did not have food in the house at 3:35 p.m. Dec. 14.
A man found sleeping in a vehicle on Brooks Boulevard at 9:15 p.m. Dec. 14 was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia and a syringe. After paperwork was completed, Joseph Vadimski 3rd, 44, of Hillsborough was released to his mother.
County communications reported a fire alarm from a basement detector at 36-38 South Main St. at 12:45 p.m. Dec. 15. Patrols reported water in the basement had knocked off a smoke detector head. Water was found to come from a locked second-floor bathroom that had a sponge stuffed in the bathtub, but water was not overflowing. Patrols also reported an illegal downstairs apartment; building and zoning departments were notified. The building owner was contacted and came out.
At 3 p.m. the same owner reported damage to an apartment from a fire extinguisher that had been sprayed over the carpet. Approximate damage was put at $50.12467
A North 9th Avenue caller reported problems with her neighbor at 4:49 p.m. Dec. 15. Patrols responded and said she mistook a Chinese food delivery for a drug transaction.
Patrolman William Sampson recovered a purse left behind at Dunkin’ Donuts on South Main Street at 5:40 p.m. Dec. 15. The owner was a Somerset woman, who was contacted. The purse contained $1, credit cards, a driver’s license and personal items.
