SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Jersey City men charged in burglaries

By Charles W. Kim, Managing Editor
Police arrested two Jersey City men this week in connection with several burglaries Dec. 19.
Nicholas Hall, 24, and Hossam Ebraheem, 19, both of Jersey City, were arrested following a motor vehicle stop in the area of George’s Road Wednesday evening and were each charged with three counts of burglary, police said.
According to police, the men were using heroin and targeted several homes off of the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8A because they thought “the homes looked nice.”
Police recovered some $12,000 worth of items allegedly stolen from various homes during the day.
Police said the items recovered from the suspects car included three boxes of jewelry, a laptop computer, iPad, a Cannon camera, gold and silver coins and a Garmin GPS device.
Police first received a call from a resident of Yarrow Circle at 3:30 p.m. reporting a burglary at the residence.
According to police, the resident was upstairs in the home and heard someone enter the front door. Believing it was a family member, the resident did not check on the noise, according to police.
Once the resident walked into the hallway, he reported that he heard one of the suspects yell to the other one that they had to leave.
Both suspects fled the home as the resident came down the stairs and called 911, police said.
Another resident on Yarrow Circle reported to police that she arrived home and found one of the suspects in the residence. The suspect reportedly told the resident that he was looking for a friend and fled.
Police said the resident later discovered items missing from the home.
Around that time, police got another report of a burglary to a Friendship Road home in which, several jewelry and electronics items were reported stolen.
Police then got another call from a George’s Road resident reporting a slow moving vehicle driving through the neighborhood described as a gold 1996 Accura.
Detectives Roger Tuhoy and Ken Herman spotted the vehicle as they patrolled in an unmarked car and pulled it over, police said.
All of the items reported stolen were recovered, according to police.
”The resident who made the call of the suspicious vehicle had no idea about the burglaries but felt comfortable enough to call us with their observations,” Chief Ray Hayducka said. “The plainclothes detectives were in the right area and captured the suspects. This case highlights our partnership with community in combating crime.”
Both men were lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick on $40,000 bail each, police said.
