SOUTH BRUNSWICK: PBA gives Santa a hand

By Charles W. Kim, Managing Editor
With help from the Policeman’s Benevolent Association Local 166, Santa Claus was able to check the holiday lists of township children another time.
More than 100 children from the community attended the annual PBA Meet Santa Day at the Veterans of Foreign wars Post 9111 on Henderson Road Sunday.
The children were able to pick up an early Christmas gift, enjoy some hot dogs and French fries, check out a miniature train and meet the man in red himself.
Sisters Charlene and Julia Lieberman of Kendall Park were among the many children attending the event.
Julia said she is asking Santa for a salon so she can practice styling hair.
”It is just pretend though,” she said.
Charlene said she wants Ariel and her sisters from the Walt Disney film “The Little Mermaid.”
”I think she has 12 sisters, but Ariel is the one,” Charlene said. “And there is a game (too).”
Even though she said Ariel is her favorite, she said she has never actually seen the movie, but already has a doll of the mermaid.
Charlene said the other Disney film “Rapunzel” is one of her favorites and that she would also like a Barbie-type doll of her this holiday season.
Julia said she also enjoys Disney movies including “Tangled,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”
”I like Belle (from ‘Beauty and the Beast’), Julia said.
Officers from the local agency mingled with the children and helped them select a toy from a table during the visit.
The annual event is sponsored by the local police union.
