A photo by Hillsborough photographer Danielle Austen has been selected as one of the 91 winning photographs in the “Project Imaginat10n” contest sponsored by Canon USA.
Danielle Austen, a professional photographer, was one of the winners in the “Backstory” theme. Her image, “Dry Dock,” photographed in Seward, Alaska, in May was one of 91 winners chosen in 10 storytelling themes: Setting, Time, Character, Mood, Backstory, Relationship, Goal, Obstacle, The Unknown, and Discovery.
Actress Eva Longoria, actor Jamie Foxx, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, designer Georgina Chapman and James Murphy, founder of LCD Soundsystem, will direct short films based on 10 of the photos.
A consumer vote helped narrow down the photographs. The photo “Unparalled” by Jennifer Harris from New Orleans was selected by director Ron Howard in the “Discovery” category to be a thematic tie across the celebrities’ films.
The directors will now each select one additional photograph from the other nine storytelling categories that personally inspire them, ultimately utilizing 10 photos to represent their creativity and imagination.
The winning photographs can be seen at imagination.usa.canon.com.
The celebrity directors are reviewing the winning photos to make their selections, craft their stories, develop their scripts and prepare to produce their own short films. All five films go into production by springtime.
The 91 winners of the photo contest span in age from 16 to 67 years old and are from across the country.
