HILLSBOROUGH: Gift exchange is foregone, and money goes to charity

In lieu of exchanging gifts this holiday season, the staff and students of Team 6C at Auten Road Intermediate School donate that money to the Hillsborough Education Association’s Children’s Philanthropic Fund.
As a group, it donated more than $4,500. In addition, they brought in more than 100 toys for Toys for Tots, as well as food to replenish the Hillsborough Food Bank.
“The team was amazed and astonished by the generosity of students and their parents,” said. “The teachers have always believed in creating a platform and an outlet for students to give back to their community, yet they are humbled by the students’ willingness, enthusiasm and sheer joy to think of others.
