A would-be thief was apparently scared off by an audible burglar alarm at the Best Buy electronics store on Route 1 Christmas Day.
According to police, the suspect allegedly rammed the rear of his pickup truck into one of the garage doors on the installation bay on the Stouts Lane side of the retailer around 10:30 a.m. Christmas morning.
Police said the suspect then used the bent garage doors to enter the store.
Once inside, however, police say the suspect was frightened off after tripping a motion detector triggering an audible alarm.
The suspect apparently fled the store empty-handed, police said.
Police said officers collected physical evidence and video surveillance tape at the scene.
They are currently looking out for a 1997 or newer Ford pickup truck with damage to its rear.
Police would also like to speak with anyone in the area during the incident that may have witnessed the break-in.
Anyone with information is asked to call South Brunswick Police at 732-329-4646.
