MIddlesex Water Reporting Main Break

MIDDLESEX WATER REPORTING WATER MAIN BREAK IN EDISON, NJ
            ISELIN, NJ January 6, 2013 —Middlesex Water Company is reporting a break on an 8-inch main affecting approximately 196 customers near Tingley Lane in Edison. This main break is affecting customers on the following streets: Tingley Lane, Pavlocak Court, Inman Ave., Old Hickory Lane, Julie Drive, Annette Drive, Madeline Drive, Amari Drive, Irene Court, Gentore Court, Hemlock Drive, Deri Court, Barkley Court, Five Acres Drive and Louis Court.
            Customers in this area may be experiencing lower water pressure at this time. The Company has shut down the main and expects water service to be restored by later this afternoon. The Company has established a staging area at the Martin Luther King School on Inman Avenue and Tingley Lane where bottled water will be available to affected customers. 
            As water service is restored to the area, customers are advised to boil their tap water for drinking for a period of 1 minute, not including the time it takes to come to a complete boil and let cool.  Customers are advised to continue boiling their water used for drinking for the next 48 hours.
            Customers should boil their water for one minute for the following: drinking, cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets and all other consumption.
            Water does not have to be boiled for the following activities: showering, washing dishes or clothes.
            Individuals with severely compromised immune systems, infants or the elderly may be at increased risk and should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.
