HILLSBOROUGH: Permanent repair being made to gasoline line under Route 206

Buckeye Pipe Line Company is well into work to make a permanent repair to its gasoline pipeline under Route 206 at New Amwell Road.
Mayor Frank DelCore said Tuesday night that representatives of the pipeline, which carries 140,000 gallons of refined petroleum product per day from Linden to Macungie, Pa., will be asked to come to a Township Committee meeting soon to explain the fix and describe ongoing safety measures.
On Dec. 10, residents and businesses detected a gasoline odor coming from the municipal street sewer system near the intersection. Buckeye discovered the presence of gasoline in a steel casing that encloses the pipeline.
Over the next week, temporary repairs were made and the immediate area remediated, but traffic was slowed and diverted around the site.
Buckeye has established a claims hotline at 800-994-0729, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for anyone who believes they have been affected by the disruption caused by the release of gasoline.
