HILLSBOROUGH: Smoke condition brings fire fighters

Volunteer firefighters from Company 2 responded to a report of smoke in the basement of an apartment at 76 Farm Road, Hillsborough, at 9:47 p.m. Jan. 2.
When firefighters arrived, neighbors in adjoining apartments said they smelled smoke in their homes, too. One apartment was entered and crews found smoke coming from the basement dryer.
According to the fire company’s website, an investigation showed a burned-up dryer vent had started giving off significant heat to the insulation behind the drywall. Crews searched but found it hadn’t spread. The residence was ventilated and units reopened.
