MANVILLE: Orange paintballs splat nine houses

   Nine residences were splattered with washable paintballs New Year’s Eve and into the first day of 2013.
   Police said homeowners were able to remove the orange-colored paint with little lasting damage.
   Tuesday, police said they hadn’t charged anyone and the incidents were under investigation.
   Paintballs were shot at a house on South 19th Avenue from occupants in a passing car at 9:11 p.m. Dec. 31, police said. Patrols checked the area, but found no one. No description of the car was given.
   Minutes later, a resident on North 9th Avenue called to say his house was hit with paintballs, again with no damage. Police were given a make and estimated age of a vehicle.
   A Green Avenue man called at 9 a.m. Jan. 1 to say five orange paintballs had hit his house. The owner removed the paint.
   Patrolman William Sampson reported at 9:21 a.m. that four orange strikes had hit the front and door to a residence on North 10th Avenue. Seven minutes later, he reported four orange blotches on a Green Street house.
   Fifteen minutes later, Patrolman Sampson reported two orange strikes to a Knopf Street residence and many hits on a realty sign in the lawn.
   A North 9th Avenue man came to headquarters at 11:14 a.m. to report several paintball hits to the front of his house.
   Officer Sampson reported at 11:34 a.m. several orange paintball strikes to the front of a North 9th Avenue house.
