MANVILLE: Senior Corner column, week of Jan. 10

   The Manville Senior Citizens meet at 12:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the VFW on Washington Avenue.
   Membership will reopen at the Jan. 10 meeting. Residents of Manville age 50 and older are eligible for membership. Also, persons who do not remain residents of Manville are still eligible for membership.
   Canned goods or nonperishable food items will continue to be collected before each meeting, as well as soup labels. Remember to bring one item per member to help stock the Food Bank.
   Blood pressure screening is held before the beginning of each meeting for members.
   Installation of officers will be held at today’s meeting, followed by a luncheon of punch and sandwiches.
   Dues for 2013 have been increased to $10 and should be paid by Feb. 14 to Nick Trilone.
   Recreation events
   • Resorts Atlantic City Casino — Trip on Wednesday, Jan. 16, includes admission to “Back to the ‘50s” show at Resorts, full luncheon buffet, round-trip motor coach transportation and $15 slot play. The cost is $45. The bus leaves from the VFW at 9 a.m. and returns about 7 p.m. Contact Josephine Pschar at 908-722-0156.
   • Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut — Feb. 5-7. The cost is $256 for two nights and three days. The trip includes an optional trip to Foxwoods Casino for bingo and gambling. Contact Donna Pierrot at 908-722-0325. This trip is open to the public.
   • Atlantic City — Trips are on the second Wednesday of the each month. The next one leaves from the VFW parking lot at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, and goes to Showboat Casino. The cost is $30, which will be returned.
