CentraState Healthcare System is offering varicose vein screenings on Jan. 14, 4-6 p.m. at CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center, 901 W. Main St., Freehold.
The screenings take only a few minutes and are open to men and women. The physician will look at your bare legs and feet to diagnose varicose veins and determine what treatment might be best for your condition. Participants should wear loose-fitting clothing (no pantyhose).
For some, varicose veins are simply a cosmetic concern, but for many people, they can cause aching pain and discomfort.
People who are more likely to develop varicose veins include people who are obese, pregnant, stand for extended periods of time, or have had past vein diseases. Women suffer from varicose veins more than men, and the incidence increases to 50 percent of people over age 50.
The screening cost is $5 per person. Space is limited and registration is required. To register for the screening or for more information, call 732-308-0570 or visit centrastate.com/healthprograms.
