FLORENCE AND ROEBLING NEWS: Week of Jan. 10

   The Florence Township Council will hold its regular meeting 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Municipal Complex, 711 Broad St.
   A free rabies clinic will be held at the Florence Township Municipal Garage, 875 Summer Street, from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 19.
   There is a blank form to use when applying for dog and cat licenses on the back of the 2013 Municipal Calendar provided by the Fire Department.
   Roebling Museum will open for the season on April 3. Registration is not required. The museum is located in Florence Township.
   There will also be a spring fundraiser held April 13.
   On May 4, join local historians for trolley rides through the historic village of Roebling in Florence.
   In June, the museum is also hosting an exhibit opening of Steadfast Under Fire: Washington A. Roebling, Civil War Engineer. The opening is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 and June 23.
   The event will feature a living history encampment of Civil War re-enactors on the museum’s lawn. Registration is not required.
   This exhibit explores the role of Washington A. Roebling and other engineers during the Civil War and Gettysburg, according to the organization.

   We still have an active Food Pantry and are always happy to receive donations. Thank you to Florence Township for the many organizations including local schools, Boy Scouts, individuals and many others — who continue donating.
   The Food Pantry at Florence United Methodist Church at Second and Broad streets in Florence is open Fridays from 11 a.m.

   There also is a food pantry at Holy Assumption Church in Roebling across from the Roebling Town Market.
