MANSFIELD: Township Committee reorganizes

MANSFIELD — Arthur Puglia will continue his leadership role as mayor for the township.
Mayor Puglia was nominated by Committeeman Alfred Clark on Jan. 3 at Mansfield’s annual reorganization meeting. Committeewoman Janice DiGiuseppe abstained from the vote.
The committee reappointed member Robert Higgins to the position of deputy mayor. Committeeman Sean Gable nominated Deputy Mayor Higgins prior to the vote.
”I’ve enjoyed serving this township for the last six years, and I look forward to the next three years,” Deputy Mayor Higgins said.
Mr. Clark and Deputy Mayor Higgins ran unopposed on the Republican ticket to keep their committee seats in November.
Mayor Puglia will continue serving as the liaison of engineering services, emergency management, special events, community forestry, recreation, fire and police.
Deputy Mayor Higgins will continue to be the liaison to the Environmental Commission, Community Forestry Committee and Emergency Squad.
Committeeman Clark will remain serving as committee liaison for engineering services, special events and the Fire Department.
Committeeman Clark said, “2013 will be my fourth year on the board, and I feel privileged to represent the town of Mansfield. I live here, and I have a farm here.”
He noted “It’s my privilege to work with the Justice Committee.”
He also reflected, “We’ve got quite a bit of work done over the last three years. I’ll be 75 after the next three years have passed.”
Committeeman Gable will remain as the liaison to insurance and safety, emergency management, recreation and the Emergency Squad.
Committeewoman DiGiuseppe will serve this year as committee liaison for insurance and safety.
The committee approved a resolution reappointing professionals, including John Maley as township auditor and Joseph DeCotiis, of DeCotiis, FitzPatrick and Cole LLP, as bond counsel.
Leonard Faiola, of Remington, and Vernick Engineers will continue engineer work for the township in 2013. Additionally, Alexander Litwornia of Litwornia Associates Inc. will resume the role of traffic engineer.
Louis Glass and Harry McVey, both of Louis Glass Associates, will continue as Mansfield planners.
Mark Tarantino will continue as the town’s prosecutor. His alternates for 2013 are George Morris, John McGill and Gerald Traynor.
James Fattorini is staying on as Mansfield’s public defender. His alternate is Karen Amacker.
Michael Magee of Magee Law will continue serving Mansfield as its solicitor.

The next committee meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23, at 24548 E. Main St., Columbus, Mansfield Township.
