• Firefighters had two calls within minutes on Christmas Day. At 8:12 a.m. they responded to a brush fire with live wires on May Place. At 8:15 the smoke/fire alarm brought them to the South Arlington Street pump station.
• An East Camplain Road man reported at 10 a.m. Dec. 25 that body panels of his vehicle had been scratched with a key in the overnight hours, with an estimated $6,500 in damages.
• A Duke’s Parkway man reported at 4:50 p.m. Dec. 25 that someone spray painted graffiti during the night on a fence. The estimate of damage to two posts was $90.
• A West Camplain Road man came to headquarters at 8:25 p.m. Dec. 25 to report that, while he was driving in the area of Roosevelt and South 18th Avenue, an unknown object hit the rear window of his vehicle, causing about $500 damage.
• A caller at 4:22 p.m. Dec. 26 said two gas tanks, valued at $28, had been taken from his shed on North Main Street and were later found in Papawick Park. The incident occurred Dec. 23 between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m.
• Burnt food activated a fire alarm that brought patrols and fire companies to a South Main Street address at 11 p.m. Dec. 26.
• A West Camplain Road woman called at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 27 to say her neighbor’s fence blew onto her vehicle. There was no damage and the fence was removed.
• Two packages were taken from a Richard Avenue porch on Dec. 21, a caller said at 9:41 a.m. Dec. 27. The value was $127. An investigation is under way.
• Rich’s Towing of West Camplain Road reported the theft of a 2007 Freightliner wrecker, valued at $60,000, a few minutes into Dec. 28. Broken glass was found at the site, police said. The vehicle was “pinged” in Irvington and police there were notified, but the truck had not been located as of Tuesday, police here said.
• A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked for 45 minutes in front of his house on North 16th Avenue at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 28. Police said they determined the driver, Anthony Love, 46, of Hillsborough had crashed into a parked car. He was charged with driving while intoxicated.
• A woman on South 8th Avenue reported at 11:52 a.m. Dec. 28 that two extension cords, valued at $110, had been taken during the night. Patrols confirmed they were missing.
• Police talked to two neighbors at 8:22 p.m. Dec. 28 about a parking dispute on South 19th Avenue. One woman said the other was leaving harassing notes on her vehicle.
• Responding to a call about a man checking vehicle doors in the Reading Cinema and Walmart lots led to charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction against Roger Brydon, 25, of Raritan at 9 p.m. Dec. 29. He was released.
• A Dailey Place woman reported at 11:37 a.m. Dec. 30 that her vehicle’s front license plate was missing.
• A Roosevelt Avenue woman came to headquarters at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 31 to say that the keys and title to a 1997 black Jeep had been taken sometime in November. She named someone she accused. She was advised of her rights and given a citizen’s complaint form.
• A Middlesex woman reported at 4:09 p.m. Dec. 31 that she had lost a HTC Droid cell phone on Dec. 28, perhaps near the Grub Hut on North Main Street.
• A caller said two individuals tried to kick in the basement window on a North 7th Avenue house, without success, at 1:28 a.m. Jan. 1. Police reported an ongoing neighbor dispute.
• At the request of Raritan police, at 5:33 a.m. Jan. 1 Manville officers stopped a vehicle on Duke’s Parkway with four people suspected in an incident in Raritan. Detectives there are investigating.
• County communications reported three men fighting on North 13th Avenue at 6 a.m. Jan. 1. Patrols said everyone had scattered by the time they arrived.
• At 9 a.m. Jan. 1 a South Bank Street man reported damage, estimated at $500, to his vehicle, probably occurring after 8 the previous night.
• At 12:23 p.m. Jan. 2 police confirmed red spray damage to a garage of a North 2nd Avenue house abandoned since Hurricane Irene in 2011. Police found similar paint on a fence on the corner of North 3rd Avenue and Duke’s Parkway a few minutes later.
• Hillsborough mail carrier Ted Orzechowski turned in a found purse belonging to a Millstone River Road, Hillsborough woman, at 2:47 p.m. Jan. 2.
• Patrolman William Sampson stopped a vehicle driven by Javehy D. Toney, 20, of Bound Brook on South 12th Avenue at 3:36 p.m. Jan. 2 and charged him with driving while his license was suspended. The vehicle was towed after no insurance and registration was produced.
• A West Camplain Road man asked police to pick up a .22-gauge shotgun for destruction at 11:34 a.m. Jan. 3.
• Rudolph Nowak of Driscoll Street came to headquarters to sign citizen complaints of harassment against Michael and Jacqueline Frey of the same address at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 3.
• An Arc of Somerset employee came to headquarters at 1:53 p.m. Jan. 4 to report a theft of a vehicle between Dec. 29 and 30. The vehicle was located by Clinton Township Police on Dec. 28.
