PHS PERSPECTIVE: Students share their New Year’s resolutions

By Byrne Fahey
For many high schoolers, a new calendar year has fewer implications than a new school year. Same grade, same classes, same activities, a new number to write at the end of the date.
Yet, like anyone, Princeton High School students set New Year’s resolutions. They range from the typical — eat healthier, stop procrastinating, get more sleep — to the unusual (you’ll see!).
Here’s a look at what PHS students are working towards in 2013:
”Be more disciplined.” – Rachel Gilmore
   ”Stop gossiping.” – Emma Cohen
”Floss more! No, actually, I’m going to do it this year.” – Michael Feeney
”Have more swag.” – Kevin Lee
”Get good at chess.” – David Li
”Stop procrastinating.” – Ariana Tartaglia and Alex Fernandez
”To get better grades.” – Elizabeth Spadea
”Six months of no dessert.” – Brittany Cruz
”Be less stressed.” – KC Read-Fisher
”To read my Bible.” – Alexander Birkel
”To smile more to make a better environment for everyone.” – Lauren Evanovich
”To make Princeton High School an anti-bully zone.” – Caroline McClatchy
”My new year’s resolution is to become an overall smarter person mainly through reading books and the newspaper more often but also by applying myself in school. Also to learn how do no-handed pushups.” – Kobe Lewin
”To go on Facebook less.” – Sarah Klebanov
”Quit League of Legends, actually a subsection of my resolution to sleep more.” – Tony Chen
”To eat healthier and also to prioritize my time.” – Emma Laurash
”Make sure my room is clean every day.” – Liz Jacobs
”Talk to my mom and dad more.” – Erik Mawn

”To make 2013 more successful than 2012.” – Nick Fulginiti
”To do better in Spanish class. But I can’t tell you my name because my mom reads the Packet and then she’ll know I’m not doing well in Spanish class.”
”Be healthy.” – Hannah Fowler Lapp
”Get into college, find a job, brush up on some reading, reteach myself art, revive old hobbies.” – Belinda Liu
”To not worry about college.” – Ciara Celestin
”Break 10 minutes in the two mile.” – Noah Chen
”Come up with a New Year’s resolution for next year. I have a whole year!” – Pierre Devlaminck
