Cameron Harper, 19, of Madison Drive was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and under the influence of narcotics, according to police..
An officer observed a 1998 Hyundai traveling on Town Center Road in an erratic manner 12:57 a.m. Jan. 2. Police said the vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to have an odor of burnt marijuana.
Mr. Harper was given field sobriety tests and then charged with DWI, according to police. He was later released pending court action.
The complainant reported that he was sleeping in his Windsor Regency apartment when he was awakened by a sound in his bedroom 2:57 a.m. Jan. 2. Police said he observed an unknown male in his room, who fled upon being discovered.
The complainant described the suspect only as wearing a black North Face jacket and black wool cap, police stated. The suspect entered through an unsecured rear door and the complainant reported that his cellular phone valued at approximately $100 was stolen. The incident is under investigation.
Police said an officer observed a 2004 Infiniti traveling northbound on Route 130 12:26 a.m. Jan. 3.
Jimmie Bryant, Jr., 56, of Windsor Castle apartments was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, obstructing traffic, unsafe lane change, illegal u-turn.
The vehicle made an illegal u-turn at Dutch Neck Road and continued to operate in an erratic manner. Police said it was stopped and the driver was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DWI. He was later released pending court action.
The complainant reported that her vehicle was scratched by a sharp object while parked in the parking lot of Princeton Arms North 2 between 8 p.m. Jan. 1 and 8 a.m. Jan. 2. Damage was estimated at $500, police stated.
Officers responded to a Conover Road address for a report of a fire in a storage shed 5:54 p.m. Jan. 1.
Police said the shed was constructed of cinder block and there was no structural damage. The cause of the fire was determined to be cardboard boxes placed near a space heater.
The scene was turned over to East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, police said, with assistance provided by Fire Company No. 2 as well as from Hightstown and Robbinsville companies.
There were no injuries reported, police said.
Andrew Gottfried, 19, of Wynbrook West Apartments, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia at 4:22 p.m. Jan. 3, police said.
Officers responded to the parking lot of Wynbrook West apartments for a report of a person involved in possible drug activity inside a vehicle, police said. The officer approached the vehicle and found the driver slumped against the driver’s door. He observed a hypodermic needle and several open packages commonly used to package heroin.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Gottfried was in possession of a small bundle of heroin packets, police said. He was later released pending court action.
Officers responded to the Walmart store for a report of individuals attempting to shoplift merchandise 5:51 p.m. Jan. 6, police stated.
Store personnel reported that Andrew Forbes, 22, of Exton, was observed passing the checkout area with an Xbox system worth $331.62. He was stopped at the security scanners upon observing the officer. Police said the suspect was stopped and found in possession of the Xbox. He was later released pending court action.
At 4:05 p.m. Jan. 6, police said an officer observed a 2000 Infiniti traveling on One Mile Road with an expired inspection sticker.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Torrance Hurtault, 23, of Cliffwood, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. He was further found to have an odor of marijuana, police said. Investigation revealed that the suspect had two marijuana cigarettes in his possession.
Mr. Hurtault was charged with failure to inspect, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and suspended driver’s license.
He was later released after posting bail on an outstanding warrant issued by East Windsor Municipal Court.
Hightstown
At 6:10 p.m. Jan. 3 on Etra Road, officers charged Margaret Obrien, 47, of Manchester, and charged her with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and reckless driving, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a two car motor vehicle collision and during the crash investigation observed a plastic cup with a fluid on the ground beneath one of the vehicles, police said. The fluid had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, as did the driver, Ms. Obrien, which led to field sobriety tests.
Police stated that Ms. Obrien failed the tests, submitting breath samples that resulted in a reading of 0.13 percent BAC. Ms. Obrien was later released with pending court action.
Police said at 8 p.m. Jan. 3 at the Hightstown Borough Police Department, officers charged George Steve, 24, of Stockton, with contempt of court. Mr. Steve came to police headquarters and turned himself in on a warrant issued by the Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $240. Mr. Steve was released upon posting bail with pending court action.
On Jan. 6 at 1:49 a.m. on Wyckoff Mills Road, officers charged Tanjila Khan, 26, of Bolton Road, East Windsor, with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, speeding, and reckless driving.
Police said Ms. Khan was stopped for traveling 45-mph in a 25-mph speed zone. During the stop the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, which led to the driver performing field sobriety tests. Ms. Khan failed such, was taken into custody, and submitted breath samples that resulted in a reading of 0.15 percent BAC.
Ms. Khan was later released with pending court action.
At 1:12 a.m. Jan. 8 in the rear lot of the St. Anthony’s Church, Maxwell Avenue, officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle that resulted in a narcotic arrest, police said. Officers, during their investigation, noted that as the driver, Alexander Abeel, 23, of Monroe, threw a baggie out of the window when lowering the window to speak to the officer.
The baggie revealed remnants of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed a partially smoked cigar with marijuana in it. As a result of the investigation Mr. Abeel was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under fifty grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Also arrested was the passenger, Shane Colvell, 23, of Broad Street, Hightstown, who was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were later released with pending court action.
