HILLSBOROUGH: Fenwick voted chair of Board of Adjustment

Marian Fenwick joined the zoning Board of Adjustment and was voted chairwoman at her first meeting on Jan. 9.
After serving 14 years on the Planning Board, Ms. Fenwick was appointed Jan. 3 to the zoning board by the Township Committee.
She served three of her years on the Planning Board as its chairwoman.
Helen “Chickie” Haines was re-elected vice-chair of the adjustment board.
Michael Volpe, John Stamler and Shawn were sworn to new full-member terms on the board, and Curtis Suraci began a new term as an alternate. Alternates Kenneth Hesthag and Michele Horst took the oath for the first time.
The board voted, 6-3, to meet twice a month in January, May and October, and skip a meeting in August. In the other months it’ll hold one meeting.
Assistant Planner David Kois urged the board to schedule two meetings a month to give flexibility to scheduling. It’s easier to cancel a meeting than add one, he said. In 2012 the board met 12 times and canceled 10 meetings.
