Do you know where the first commercial bank in New Hope was located? How about the first general store; the first house with running water; the building that became a hospital for Revolutionary War soldiers?
These and many other questions about New Hope’s origins will be answered during the one-hour Walking Tour of Historic New Hope.
The 13th annual tour will be presented by the New Hope Historical Society on Jan. 27 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Parry Mansion, 45 S. Main St., New Hope, as part of the Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival.
This is the 13th consecutive year that tour guides Barry Ziff and Roy Ziegler will lead the tour.
”We have had some very interesting tours over the years,” recalled Mr. Ziff. “I remember one year, it was 19 degrees outside on Super Bowl Sunday, but more than a hundred folks showed up to take the tour,” he added.
Each year the Historical Society focuses on a different aspect of New Hope’s history.
”We decided to show folks some of the town’s original gathering places from as far back as the 18th century,” noted Mr. Ziegler. “It helps to expand the knowledge of our town and keep the tour interesting each year.”
The Walking Tour is free. Complimentary hot cider and cookies are served in the Parry Mansion following the tour.
