Patricia D. Burtt

Mrs. Burtt, 81, of Middletown, died Jan. 6, 2013, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in Rumson and lived in Fair Haven before moving to Middletown in 1987. She was an avid artist who worked in acrylics and etchings, but her main passion was watercolor. For more than 30 years, she entered her paintings in many local shows and locations such as the Monmouth County Library, Fair Haven libraries and Riverview hospital. She was a member of the Monmouth Arts Gallery, the Art Alliance of Monmouth County and the Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury. She was also a singer and guitar player and performed at the Unitarian Church of Lincroft, among other places before she focused on her art. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Dr. George T. Burtt; a son, Richard Burtt; and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Desmond. She is survived by three sons, Paul Joseph Burtt, of Red Bank, David Francis Burtt and his wife, Claudia, of Media, Pa., and John Martin Burtt, of Red Bank; a grandson; a brother, Jimmy Desmond, of Howell; a sister, Carol Desmond Clark, of Old Bridge; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to the Guild of Creative Art, 620 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702.
