HILLSBOROUGH: Car hits pole, closing Amwell Road

   Both directions of Amwell Road between Woodfern and Hockenbury roads in Hillsborough were closed for about 10 hours when a one-vehicle accident brought down a utility pole and wires at 3:47 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18.
   Police said the investigation showed that the driver, Arnold Trabb, 69, of Hillsborough probably fell asleep while traveling west, causing his 2010 Nissan Pathfinder to hit the utility pole and a fire hydrant just east of Hockenbury Road.
   There were no serious injuries, police said.
   Both directions of Amwell Road were closed while repairs were made by Verizon.
   Responding were police, rescue squad and the Neshanic and Flagtown fire companies.
   • An estimated $3,756 worth of appliances was reported stolen in a burglary reported Jan. 12 at a home under construction on French Drive. It reportedly occurred sometime during the previous two days, police said.
   • Two vehicles were burglarized at a Route 206 business during the overnight of Dec. 18, with $2,000 worth of electronics and auto parts reported stolen.

   Police reported three incidents of alleged driving while intoxicated.
   • Patrick Sharkey Jr., 58, of Hillsborough was charged Jan. 12 after he was involved in a crash in a Route 206 parking lot. His sobriety test reading was 0.18 blood alcohol, police said. He was released after being charged with careless driving.
   • Jonathan Paiz, 25, of Raritan was charged Dec. 28 after he was involved in a one-car crash on Millstone River Road, police said. His sobriety test reading was 0.18 percent blood alcohol, police said. He was released after also being charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident, careless driving, failure to keep right and driving without insurance.
   • Kim Constable, 51, of Hillsborough was released after being charged Jan. 5 with driving while intoxicated on Ditmars Circle after police responded to a report of a possible drunk driver. The matter is pending blood analysis.
   Three incidents of possession were issued in December.
   • Keyrelos Mikhail, 20, of Bayonne was charged Dec. 12 with less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substances in a motor vehicle following a complaint of unlicensed solicitors on Conover Drive.
   • Justin Garcia, 18, of Jackson was charged Dec. 2 with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia when an officer conducting a security check of Ann Van Middlesworth Park found him there.
   • Heather Roman, 31, of Hillsborough was charged Dec. 5 with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after she called police to her residence to check for a possible intruder. Officers securing the residence saw the drug in plain view, police said.
