The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce is looking for your input to help gauge the state of the business climate here in Hunterdon County.
The chamber has opened an online survey at www.hunterdon-chamber.org asking a series of questions about doing business in Hunterdon County. The hope is to have as many businesses and organizations as possible participate in the survey, to determine baselines for areas such as growth, impediments to business development, and the overall sense of the economic outlook in the county.
One of the goals of the Chamber is to further solidify a program of work around Economic & Workforce Development in the county. As the Chamber moves ahead with its Strategic Planning Process in the early part of 2013, the results of this survey will enable the Chamber to build a strong and relevant plan of action.
Chairman of the Economic Development Task Force and member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, George Ditzler, who is also president of TeamLink, said, “Hunterdon County like our entire region, state and country has undergone major shifts in our economy over the past several years. It is our hope that the survey will lay the ground work ultimately for the development of a county-wide Economic Development Strategy to be developed.”
”The ultimate goal of developing an economic development strategy for Hunterdon is critical,” said Chamber President, Chris Phelan. “The health of our business community and its relation to the County and our municipalities are critical in the years ahead. The ability for our existing businesses to grow, for new businesses to be recruited is contingent on a strong sense of what we have, where we need to focus and having a solid Economic Development strategy will get us there,” he said.
Freeholder Director of Hunterdon County Rob Walton commented, “Hunterdon County is more than a great place to live, it is a great place to work. Keeping our local economy vibrant and successful requires cooperation from government and business. We can maintain our rural character and enhance our economy. The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce is to be commended for leading this effort.”
”The results of this survey will help to shape programs, policies and services to benefit the business community and, consequently, the overall vitality of Hunterdon County, in the years to come,” said Tara Shepherd, executive director HART Commuter Information, another supporter of the business survey.
