The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad (PFARS) inaugurated its newly elected officers at an installation dinner at the Nassau Inn.
Princeton Council President Bernie Miller swore in Robert Gregory as the new PFARS president, Deborah Westbrook as vice president, Robert Ashbaugh as treasurer, Shayan Rakhit as corresponding secretary, and Katherine Yerkes as recording secretary, among other officers.
Frank Setnicky continues as PFARS director of operations, Gregory Paulson as deputy director, Robert Allen as rescue captain, and T. J. Williams was elected EMS captain.
Mr. Setnicky announced that PFARS’ 119 members volunteered 26,005 hours for duty shifts about 4,000 hours more than in 2011.
In 2012, PFARS responded to 2,876 incidents, divided almost equally between the old borough and township, and improved its average response time by almost 5 percent over last year.
At the dinner, PFARS honored members for their length of service, particularly noting Shannon Koch for her 20 years of volunteer service to PFARS. PFARS also presented awards to its top responders. The top responder was Katherine Yerkes, followed by Raphael Balsam and Alex Pibl.
Also at the dinner, Rosemary Shangle-Johnson, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, presented a check to PFARS in the amount of $4,000 that the Auxiliary raised by fundraising efforts such as its Christmas Bazaar and Craft Fair.
