WEST AMWELL — The West Amwell Township Committee continued to consider, during its Jan. 14 meeting, allowing farming on about half of the 105 acres on which the municipal building is located, Clerk Lora Olsen said.
”The committee heard presentations from several parties interested in farming the land, but no final decision was made,” Ms. Olsen said.
The municipal building is at 150 Lambertville-Rocktown Road.
The committee agreed to renew, for another year, a shared services agreement for animal control services. Under this agreement, West Amwell is the lead agency for those services, which are provided to Lambertville and Delaware Township, as well as West Amwell.
The committee also agreed to provide new microphones for the court room and the municipal auditorium. The committee decided to hold off on buying new laptop computers for those areas.
At the request of Hunterdon County, the committee is working on an emergency preparedness plan for election days.
”The plan is a work in progress, but we expect to be moving toward acquiring emergency generators for polling stations, in case they lose electric power on election day,” Ms. Olsen said.
The committee also passed a resolution honoring former Township Committeeman Frank Masterson, who was a member of the committee from 2008 to 2010. Mr. Masterson died Jan.3.
Cathy Urbanski was appointed to the Open Space and Recycling committees at the Jan. 14 meeting.
In addition, the township’s Parks and Recreation Commission announced the winners of West Amwell’s Christmas Lighting Contest. They are the Brewi family, the Clapp family, the Schultz family, the Evanko family, the Hart family and the Pietras family. Each family will receive a $30 gift certificate to Chicken Dog Deli.
