By Charles W. Kim, Packet Media Group
LAMBERTVILLE – "Hundreds" of volunteers are joining with several law enforcement agencies in an "extensive" search for city resident Sara Majoras, 39.
Ms. Majoras, A bartender at John & Peter’s on Main street in New Hope, Pennsylvania, was last seen when the business closed at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, a spokesman for the restaurant said Sunday evening.
The spokesman, identified only as Allay, said Ms. Majoras was not working, but was out with friends Friday night and left the business to walk home in the neighboring City of Lambertville.
"She is tough and independent," Allay said. "She was able to take care of herself. It was not the first time she walked home (after closing)."
Allay said Ms. Majoras boyfriend called the bar when she did not return to the home they share in Lambertville.
According to Allay, the kitchen manager at John & Peter’s, Ms. Majoras worked there as a bartender for 16 years and would never get into a car with anyone.
"She wouldn’t even take a ride home from friends," Allay said. "She walks (home). That’s what she does."
Law enforcement representatives from New Hope, Lambertville and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office would only say the investigation into the disappearance was "ongoing" and was "a joint effort" by the agencies involved.
None of the agencies would comment futher Sunday evening.
Allay, however, said that cameras along the route Ms. Majoras usually took home showed that she made it over the bridge into Lambertville, but never made it the last six blocks to her home.
The bar has led the effort to put out flyers and coordinate volunteers to search the area, Allay said.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to either call Lambertville Police at 609-397-3132 or John & Peter’s at 215-862-5981.
