LAMBERTVILLE: Missing woman search still under way (Video)

Tuesday, Jan. 29 report

FLEMINGTON — Early this afternoon, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III released updated information about the ongoing missing person investigation in Lambertville.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “New Jersey State Police divers have returned to Lambertville today, (Jan. 29), to continue their underwater search of the Delaware and Raritan Canal for 39-year-old Sarah Majoras.
The Lambertville resident has been missing since crossing the bridge from New Hope into Lambertville on foot at approximately 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
Ms. Majoras had left John and Peters Bar in New Hope and was on her way home.
Security cameras on the New Hope-Lambertville free bridge recorded her crossing the Delaware River and turning north on Lambert Lane. A still photo of Ms. Majoras crossing the bridge is being released in hopes it may trigger someone’s memory if they saw her that night.
State Police divers, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Underwater Search and Rescue Team, the Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit, and the Lambertville Rescue Squad have all assisted in the search so far.
State Police divers entered the canal near Coryell Street Monday afternoon after placing sonar equipment into the water from the bridge.
The prosecutor reported that on Monday, a pair of eyeglasses were recovered by police near the canal, but they do not belong Ms. Majoras. The underwater search and an aerial search of the area will continue today. Detectives will also continue with a targeted ground search based on intelligence that has been developed.
The investigation is very active. Detectives have been canvassing the neighborhood looking for possible witnesses or private surveillance cameras that may have caught something. Cell phone records have also been reviewed and have not revealed any clues.
The search effort includes members of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, the Lambertville Police Department, as well as Lambertville volunteer fire and rescue squad personnel, the Hunterdon County Department of Public Safety, the Corrections Division, the Sheriff’s Office, the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad, the New Jersey State Police Missing Person Unit, the New Jersey State Police Marine Division, the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Dive & Rescue Team.
The prosecutor added, “It’s a small town. It is possible that someone saw her. Hopefully we’ll get a phone call with some information.”
The prosecutor further added that at this time, there is no evidence of “foul play,” but all possible scenarios are being looked into by investigators.
Ms. Majoras is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighing 140 pounds. She has blue eyes and blonde hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans, brown leather boots, a white cap and a camouflage jacket.
Anyone with information can contact the Lambertville Police Department at 609-397-3132. All calls are kept confidential.
