Trenton, NJ – The Trenton Half Marathon was recently selected to participate in the New Jersey chapter of the Road Runners Club of America “Restore the Shore” Grand Prix Series in 2013. The goal of this program is to raise $100,000 for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Foundation. The Trenton Half Marathon will donate a portion of every entry fee.
The Grand Prix Series is comprised of a full marathon, two half-marathons, one 10K, two 4-milers, two 5Ks and one 1-mile run and will offer a variety of ways to participate. There will be individual and team standings for performance, participation, fundraising as well as overall standings. Performance points will be based on finishing time, as well as each runner’s age and gender.
Runners who finish six of the nine races will get an "I Ran to Restore the Shore" medal.
"We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of this effort to raise funds and awareness to those affected by Sandy. We are proud to do our part and look forward to participating in this great effort," Trenton Half Marathon Event Director Brian Barry noted.
The Trenton Half also includes a 10K, kids run and Health & Wellness Expo.
"This is not only a great opportunity to raise funds for a great cause, but it is also a great way to bring awareness to the awesome events that take place throughout the state. We are fortunate to be able to help in our own way.” Barry said.
The Trenton Half Marathon had more than 2,800 participants in 2012. This year’s event is slated for Saturday, November 9, 2013.
