ALLENTOWN: Borough OKs two contracts

By Joanne Degnan, Managing Editor
ALLENTOWN — The Borough Council has approved a one-year shared service agreement with Robbinsville for automotive repairs of vehicles and equipment at the township’s Public Works garage on Route 526.
The resolution was approved 6-0 on Jan. 22.
Under the agreement, Robbinsville will charge Allentown $50 per man-hour for labor and 10 percent over the township’s cost for replacement parts. If Allentown provides the replacement parts, there is no extra charge.
Major repairs must be scheduled, but minor fixes, such as lights or replacing windshield blades, will be taken care of immediately during normal business hours.
The cost of the shared service agreement is the same as it was in 2012.
The Borough Council also approved a no-bid professional service contract with H20 Services LLC, of Robbinsville, at its Jan. 22 meeting. The firm will be paid $3,060 a month to operate and maintain the borough-owned water treatment plan seven days a week, the agreement states.
H20 Services will also provide on-call dispatch, evaluation and coordination services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for problems involving borough utilities, including the water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems. The supplemental fee for providing on-call response is $1,020 per month.
The professional service contract, which represents a 2 percent increase over the firm’s rates in 2012, runs through Dec. 31, Municipal Clerk Julie Martin said.
