News about academic achievements of local residents at college

   Caitlin McCarthy, of Allentown, and Jessica Friedberg, of Robbinsville, have been named to the Dean’s List at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York for the fall 2012 semester.
   William J. Mitchell III, of New Egypt, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall 2012 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Mr. Mitchell, an alumnus of New Egypt High School, is a senior at St. Lawrence University.
   Shelby Doll, of Cream Ridge, has been named to the Dean’s List at Muhlenberg College for the fall 2012 semester. Ms. Doll, a graduate of Allentown High School, is a junior majoring in Spanish and International Studies.
   Karisa A. Galvano, of Allentown, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.
   The University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware has announced the following local students have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester: Tyler Cooke, of Robbinsville; Jared Icenhower, of Robbinsville; Jeffrey Kalczynski, of Robbinsville; David Kopera, of Allentown; Jessica Lambert, of New Egypt; Michael Lorenzo, of Robbinsville; Hayley Odell, of Allentown; and Brittany Worrall, of Allentown.
   The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania has announced that Ralph Petagna and Danielle Frank, both of Robbinsville, have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester.
   Mr. Petagna is a freshman majoring in accounting. Ms. Frank is a freshman majoring in exercise science.
   Lauren Mruk, of Allentown, has been named to the Dean’s List at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut for the fall 2012 semester.
   The University of Connecticut has announced the following students have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester: Nicole Ritter, of Allentown; Jorie Predmore, of Millstone Township; and Jillian Vaz, of Robbinsville.
   Ashley Bronston, of Robbinsville, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester at Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania.
   Vincent Morano, of Cream Ridge, is a member of the Ranney School’s History Bowl A Team that will be competing in the National History Bowl championship in Washington D.C. on April 27-28.
   William Malsbury, of Allentown, has committed a year to help students in Boston schools succeed by serving as an AmeriCorps member with City Year.
   Mr. Malsbury, an alumnus of Allentown High School and recent graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, will serve on the National Grid team at Blackstone Elementary School in Boston.
   During his 10 months of service, Mr. Malsbury will support teachers and at-risk students by focusing on attendance, behavior and course work by serving as a tutor, mentor and role model.
   City Year, an education-focus AmeriCorps program founded in Boston in 1988, is addressing the high school dropout crisis by recruiting, training and deploying talented young adults to help students and schools succeed.
