Winterguard hosts
34 competing teams
   Saturday, Feb. 2 — The 13th annual Winterguard Show in the main gym of the high school on Raider Boulevard. A total of 34 teams, starting with the Middle School guards at 4:30 p.m. and moving up through the classes, will compete, concluding with an exhibition performances by both of the Hillsborough guards.
   Winterguard is an indoor color guard activity Each winterguard team picks its own music and use flags, rifles and sabers, props and dance moves. Teams are judged on talent, precision and creativity.
   Spectators can come any time for an entrance fee of $10. Students and seniors are $7.
Baseball team hosts
pancake breakfast
   Sun., Feb. 3 — The Hillsborough High School baseball team will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. Tickets at door are $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.
Church collects food
on ‘Souper Sunday’
   Sunday, Feb. 3 — Harlingen Reformed Church at 34 West Dutchtown Harlingen Road, Belle Mead, is collecting cans of soup to be delivered to local food banks. Bring donations to the church front porch prior to Feb. 3 or to worship service at 10 a.m. that day. Wear your favorite team’s jersey!    Sun., Feb. 3 — Hillsborough High School’s Robotics team sponsors a fund-raising breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs at Applebee’s, 315 Route 206, from 8-10 a.m. For tickets, phone 908-419-7164.
Schools will enroll
fall kindergarten
   Mon. and Tues., Feb. 4 and 5 — Kindergarten registration for the fall will be held in a morning session in each elementary school (times determined by individual schools) and evening sessions in the Board of Education Conference Room in the township Municipal Building for parents who cannot attend the morning session.
   To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be five years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2013.

boosts debate club
   Tuesday, Feb. 5 — Hillsborough High School Debate Club hosts a Battle of the Bands at 7 p.m. $5 admission. Proceeds benefit the club.

Strong Kids drive
   Tues., Feb. 5 — The Somerset Valley YMCA, a charitable non-profit organization, is launching its annual Strong Kids fundraising campaign at the Hillsborough Family Y, East Mountain Road, from 7 -8 p.m. This year’s theme is “It Starts with One.”

Hospice will hold
dinner dance event
   Sat., Feb. 9 — Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation is holding a Valentine dinner dance from 7 to 11 p.m. at the VFW 600 Washington Ave., Manville.

collects clothing
   Saturday, Feb. 9 — Used clothing collection sponsored by the Hillsborough Band Parents Association. 10 a.m. to noon at the front entrance of Hillsborough High School, 466 Raider Blvd. Also on March 9.

radio-control fly club
   Sunday, Feb. 10 — ATOMS RC’ers radio-controlled flying club will hold its annual swap meet of items such as airplanes, radios, building supplies, etc. from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Complex to raise funds for field maintenance and youth programs.
Elks welcomes vets
at lunch monthly
   Thursday, Feb. 14 — The Princeton Elks Lodge monthly Veterans Day meeting and lunch will be held at noon at the Princeton Elk Lodge at 345 Route 518, Skillman and is free for veterans. All veterans are invited to attend, especially Elks who are veterans. The lodge is trying to establish a Veterans Day once a month during most months of the year. about using herbs
   Thursday, Feb. 28 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hear Mary Kay Muckenhoupt talk about the history of herbs and herb gardening in New Jersey at 11 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street in Neshanic Station. Growing and using herbs in gardens, landscape and kitchen — and what herbs to avoid — will be discussed. Club’s monthly meeting is at 9:45 a.m. Bring a bag lunch and lug your mug; dessert and beverage only will be served at noon. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. RoboRaiders host
kids’ science fair
   Sat., March 9 — Hillsborough High School Robotics Team 75 hosts a science fair RoboRaiders. in the Hillsborough High School Commons from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. All 5th-12th graders attending any Somerset County school can participate. Projects can be submitted individually or as a group (maximum of three). Sign up at www.RoboRaiders.com by March 2. Prizes will be given. Contact [email protected] with questions. Some ideas to consider for projects are: electricity, physics, biology, genetics, chemistry and environment.

   Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
   Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 60 Auten Road. Call 431-1300 if attending.
   Divorce support group — A non-denominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 7-8:30 p.m., at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. 908-295-6740.
