MANVILLE: Library Happenings column, week of Jan. 31

   Acoustic guitarists of all ages are invited to the Manville Library on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m. for an informal jam session.
   Bring your acoustic guitar and join library director Ed Smith in sharing some of your favorite songs. All levels of players and styles of music are welcome, and light refreshments will be served. Some sheet music will be available.

   Tax forms: The Manville Public Library has some New Jersey and federal tax forms available. Call 888-238-1233 for New Jersey forms the library does not have and 877-777-4778 for federal forms. Senior citizens may call Somerset County at 908-541-5710 to schedule an appointment for a free income tax service.
   Grandparents University: The library will offer its first monthly Grandparents University program from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Conference Room. The free event pairs grandparents, parents or an adult caregiver with a child to tackle a fun-filled science experiment. Children must be at least seven years old to participate.
   Change in fines: Effective Monday, Feb. 4, there will be increases in most fines. The list is available at the Circulation Desk.
   Story time: Registration has begun. Children must be 3 ½ to 5 by Aug. 31, 2012. In February story time will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
   Display case: If you have a hobby or collection that you would like to exhibit, call Barbara at 908-722-9722.
   Kids Craft Club: The monthly meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, at 3:30 p.m.
   Hungry Readers Book Club: The club meets from noon to 1 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. The next meeting will be held Feb. 11. For information, call Beverly Ball at 908-722-3057.
   Chess classes: The library is offering free classes for all ages. Call the library to schedule one. All are welcome.
   Crochet Club: Come and join the club in the Community Room. Experienced or not, you will be welcomed. Bring your own needles. A new session started Jan. 30.
   Regular hours: Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
   Gifts for the library: If you have DVDs and CDs that you no longer need, consider donating them to the library. In addition, IRS tax-deductible monetary contributions are accepted. Donations are greatly appreciated. At the present time, the library isn’t accepting books.
   Cost of copies: The price has been changed to 10 cents for black-and-white copies and 40 cents for color copies.
